Radio Free Honduras from Chicago rocks at MidWest LatinoFest along with Bachata Flow from North Carolina

Radio Free Honduras is becoming a staple on the Midwest Latin Music scene; it features Honduran music legend Charlie Barán. In Honduras, Barán was a core member of the group Banda Blanca, which rose to fame in 1990 when the international hit “Sopa de Caracol” struck number one on the Billboard Latin Chart for the United States. The songs “Fiesta” and “Swing Latina” also made the United States charts.

Nearly 20 years ago, Selena was the fastest-rising Tejano musical artist the U.S. had ever seen, until her untimely death in the spring of 1995. But her impact on the Latino music scene lives on and will be celebrated at MidWest LatinoFest on Saturday, August 30, 2014, from 2:00 to 11:00PM, at Promenade Park in downtown Toledo.

Rios means “Entertainment Specialists”

Tony and Javier “DJ Javi” Rios have been involved in the music and entertainment industry for many years and MidWest LatinoFest welcomes them. Tony, along with his wife Maryori, are the owners of TRE, Inc. and broadcast weekly with “Voces Latinas” TV Show. Javi is the owner of “Rico Sounds.” They reside in the Toledo area.

Sergio Viveros’ tall, lean body towered over the keyboards sitting before him. Slowly, almost tenderly the 15-year-old boy’s fingers began to move across the keys; within seconds his audience of more than 120 people erupted into applause and cheers as they recognized the familiar melody of La Paloma.
