The holiday fest features many traditional food and beverage
items, vendor tables, giveaways, and more.
“Southwest Detroit is excited to once again host the annual
Southwest Holiday Fest, offering families a way to celebrate the
holiday season with an interactive entertainment lineup and
authentic Latin American cuisine,” said Raymond Lozano,
Executive Director of the Mexicantown Community Foundation.
“We are grateful for the generous support from our sponsors and
hope that the community takes advantage of this opportunity to
revel in the holiday spirit, while paying tribute to Hispanic
Offerings at the different activity centers include: “Too Much
Light Makes the Baby Go Blind,” an interactive series of skits;
hot cocoa with the Disney movie, “Coco;” Las Posadas - a
re-enactment of the journey of Mary and Joseph; a mole sauce and
tamale-tasting contest; and youth performances from both the
Center of Music & Performing Arts-Southwest (COMPÁS) and Western
International High School’s Jazz Ensemble.
The West Vernor & Springwells Business Improvement District
is sponsoring a shuttle that will transport festival-goers from
location to location throughout the event.
