Explore DNA and hereditary science during Genetics Weekend at Imagination Station

TOLEDO: The cutting-edge science of genetics has become a popular topic in recent years, with new breakthroughs in the field becoming more frequent. But what is genetics? To talk about the serious and practical implications of this science visit Imagination Station.

Crack the Code: Genetics Weekend” lets visitors delve into the science of genetics. From August 16-19, 2018 learn more through engaging activities that help simplify this complex topic. Extract the DNA of a strawberry, map out your genetic traits on a genetic wheel, find out if you’re a supertaster through special taste tests, and assemble a puzzle based on the structure of a cell.

These experiments show how your genes affect the traits that are passed down through your family and demonstrate how humanity is all connected in surprising ways through our genetic code.

Visitors can dive even deeper by visiting BODY WORLDS Rx. The exhibit leaves Imagination Station on Labor Day, so this will be one of the last weekends to check it out. Learn how the genes passed down from your family can affect your health, and see up-close the cells and elements that make up the human body.

Representatives from New York Life Insurance will be on-site for free fingerprinting on Saturday, August 18 from 11am–4pm.

Lucas County residents receive a $1.50 discount and FREE Saturday admission for kids, 12 and under, with paid adult admission. For more information, call 419.244.2674 or visit www.imaginationstationtoledo.org.
