BOOMERANG PROGRAM: Get hooked on boomerangs at Lorain Public Library Systemís Main Library on Monday, July 28 at 2 p.m.  Gary Broadbent will entertain families with children of all ages.  Heíll demonstrate several unique styles of boomerangs and explain the science behind this complex flying toy.  Preregistration is required and is available online at LorainPublicLibrary.org or by calling the Main Library at 440-244-1192, ext. 449 or 1-800-322-READ, ext. 449.  The Main Library is located at 351 W. Sixth St. in Lorain.

TEEN DRAMA CLUB PERFORMANCE: Come see Lorain Public Libraryís very own Teen Drama Club perform an old play into which theyíve put their own western flair.  The final performance is Wednesday, July 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Lorain Public Library Systemís Main Library.  These young adult thespians have been working hard to prepare this melodrama for you.  Come support them in this endeavor!  Preregistration is required and is available online at LorainPublicLibrary.org or by calling the Main Library at 440-244-1192, ext. 449 or 1-800-322-READ, ext. 449. 

ICE CREAM SOCIAL AND OUR ZOO TO YOU: Get up close and personal with live animals at Lorain Public Library Systemís Main Library on Thursday, July 31 at 6:30 p.m.  Our Zoo to You is back by popular demand.  Families will also enjoy an ice cream treat at the program.  The festivities will be held in the grassy area by the parking lot, so bring lawn chairs and blankets if you like.  If inclement weather, the program will be held in the library.  Preregistration is required and is available online at LorainPublicLibrary.org or by calling the Main Library at 440-244-1192, ext. 449 or 1-800-322-READ, ext. 449.  

TWO HUNDRED YEARS OF SHIPBUILDING ON THE BLACK RIVER: Meet the Black Riverís first shipbuilders at Lorain Public Library Systemís Main Library.  Matthew Weisman from the Lorain Historical Society will be presenting a program at the library on Thursday, July 31 at 7 p.m.  Come to relive the great industry in shipbuilding that was established here.  From schooners, to steamboats, to the largest boats still sailing the lakes, shipbuilding on the Black River was second to none.  Preregistration is required and is available online at LorainPublicLibrary.org or by calling the Main Library at 440-244-1192, ext. 450 or 1-800-322-READ, ext. 450. 

COMPUTERS FOR BEGINNERS: Learn computer basics at Lorain Public Library Systemís Main Library on Friday, Aug. 1 at 3:30 p.m.  Participants will learn how to use a mouse and identify computer parts.  Theyíll also receive an introduction to the Windows operating system.  Preregistration is required and is available online at LorainPublicLibrary.org or by calling the Main Library at 440-244-1192, ext. 450 or 1-800-322-READ, ext. 450.  

TEEN AFTER-HOURS SUMMER READING FINALE: Celebrate the successful conclusion of another season of teen Summer Reading at the Lorain Public Library System.  A party for teens in grades six through 12 and their guests is Saturday, Aug. 2 at 6 p.m.  Music, pizza, giant games and ridiculousness may ensue.  Summer Reading participants from the Main Library, South Lorain Branch and the Bookmobile, this party is just for you!  Come join in the fun.  You will have to show your reading record at the door.  Preregistration is required and is available online at LorainPublicLibrary.org or by calling the Main Library at 440-244-1192, ext. 449 or 1-800-322-READ, ext. 449.  

FREE ENTRY TO BASEBALL GAME!: Show your Lorain Public Library System library card at the Lorain County Ironmen game on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014 and get into the baseball game for free.  The game starts at 7:05 p.m. at The Pipe Yard, located at 2840 Meister Road in Lorain.  Free tickets to Cedar Point are being raffled off at the game as well.  Visit LorainPublicLibrary.org for more information, or call the library at 1-800-322-READ.
