WHAT’S HAPPENING AT LORAIN PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM’S MAIN LIBRARY
 

STORY TIMES: Have a storybook July at Lorain Public Library System’s Main Library.  Toddler Story Time, for 2 through 5-year-olds with a caregiver, is Mondays at 10:30 a.m.  Sittin’ and Scootin’ story time for babies from birth to 23 months old is Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.  Preschool Story Time, for 3 through 5-year-olds, is Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.  At Preschool Story Time on July 9, 2014, Robin Echols Cooper will be a special guest presenter.  Her interactive program will include storytelling, music, puppetry and movement.  Families with children of all ages are invited to this educational and fun program.  Preregistration is required for all story times and is available online at LorainPublicLibrary.org or by calling the Main Library at 440-244-1192 or 1-800-322-READ, ext. 449.  The Main Library is located at 351 W. Sixth St. in Lorain.

EXPLORERS: Explore something new each week at Lorain Public Library System’s Main Library.  Children entering first through fifth grade are invited for stories, music, crafts and more.  The Explorers program is Mondays through July at 2 p.m.  On July 14, the Bubble Lady will be at Explorers to dazzle families with children of all ages.  She’ll make bubbles multiply and do tricks, and even put a child in a bubble!  Preregistration is required for Explorers and is available online at LorainPublicLibrary.org or by calling the Main Library at 440-244-1192 or 1-800-322-READ, ext. 449. 

HOLIDAY CLOSURE: The Lorain Public Library System will be closed on Friday, July 4 for Independence Day.

DANCE!: Explore the world of dance at Lorain Public Library System’s Main Library on Wednesday, July 9 at 6:30 p.m.  Dancer Tom Evert will perform a compelling assortment of short dances that demonstrate dance as a form of expression.  All children are invited to participate and perform a mini show of their own.  Families with children of all ages will enjoy this wonderful program.  Preregistration is required and is available online at LorainPublicLibrary.org or by calling the Main Library at 440-244-1192 or 1-800-322-READ, ext. 449. 

WONDERS OF ELECTRICITY: Power up and learn the basics of the science of electricity at Lorain Public Library System’s Main Library.  Summer Science on Thursday, July 10 at 2 p.m. welcomes Barry Kaufman for Wonders of Electricity.  Fourth through sixth-graders will watch electrical feats from 1.5 volts to 15,000 volts in this exciting show.  Kids will learn how to be safe users of electric power.  This program is provided by a grant from The Stocker Foundation.  Preregistration is required and is available online at LorainPublicLibrary.org or by calling the Main Library at 440-244-1192 or 1-800-322-READ, ext. 449.  

BORROW CHART-TOPPING MATERIAL FROM THE LIBRARY: Request Finding Me: A Decade of Darkness, a Life Reclaimed by Michelle Knight from the Lorain Public Library System (LPLS).  This memoir of the Cleveland kidnappings is on Publishers Weekly best-seller list.  This book is also available in eBook format through Axis 360 and OverDrive.  Find these services in the eLibrary on LorainPublicLibrary.org.  Both are free with your LPLS card.
