executive director and CEO of the Zoo, said. “The staff has done
an amazing job, and we are all extremely grateful to our private
donors, our sponsors and to Lucas County voters for making this
possible. It’s part of our year-long celebration of flight, and
it brings visitors closer than ever to these amazing animals.”
Mary Ellen Pisanelli,
president of the Zoo’s Board of Directors, praised the community
and Zoo-wide teamwork that made the exhibit a reality. Carol
Contrada, president of the Board of Lucas County
Commissioners, acknowledged Lucas County voters’ longtime levy
support that helps sustain the Zoo’s daily operations.
