CLEVELAND PUBLIC LIBRARY AND INGENUITY CLEVELAND BRING BACK THE POPULAR MINI MAKER FAIRE

Last year, Cleveland Public Library (CPL) and Ingenuity Cleveland hosted the region’s first Mini Maker Faire with an event that boasted six floors of innovation, creativity, and technology. Doubling the number of exhibitors this year, the Cleveland Mini Maker Faire (CMMF) will return to CPL on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Main Library, East 6th and Superior Ave. The event will run from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

“Cleveland continues to make a name for itself in the Maker culture and CPL is committed to being a part of the movement”, said Felton Thomas, Director of CPL. “In January we opened our MakerSpace in TechCentral at Main Library and have seen firsthand the creative and entrepreneurial spirit that we have in our city. The Mini Maker Faire is a fantastic collaborative effort to showcase why Cleveland is an important part of the Maker Movement.”

Highlights of this year’s faire include:

• Technological and industrial workshops including 3D printing, programming and innovative technologies;

• The 2nd floor of the Louis Stokes Wing will turn into a Gaming Zone, complete with traditional and non-traditional board games, and an exciting demonstration with the Cleveland Game Developers;

• Wood-working, knitting and soldering demonstrations; and

• An installation of Voix de Ville, a pop-up imaginarium of neo-vaudeville, musical extravaganza, circus arts, comedy, and theatre.

The Maker Movement—made up of creators, inventors, crafters, and techies—strives to inspire, unite, and inform while celebrating the DIY community.

The Mini Maker Faire will introduce makers, hobbyists, engineers, artists, students, crafters, and the everyday novice to new inventions, innovations, and ideas.

This free event will allow people of all ages to learn, discover, create, and play along with “makers” and creators from across the region. For more information, please visit cpl.org.
