¿Qué Pasa Lorain? What’s happening at the Main Lorain Public Library
 

ZUMBA: Get an early jump on your New Year’s resolution. Come to Zumba at Lorain Public Library System’s Main Library on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013 at 6 p.m. Zumba fuses fitness, entertainment and culture into an exhilarating dance-fitness sensation.  Preregistration is required and is available online at LorainPublicLibrary.org in the events calendar or by calling the Main Library at 440-244-1192 or 1-800-322-READ, ext. 450.  The Main Library is located at 351 W. Sixth St., Lorain.

HOLIDAY CLOSINGS: The Lorain Public Library System (LPLS) will be closed on the following days: Tuesday, Dec. 24; Wednesday, Dec. 25; and Wednesday, January 1.  All locations will close early at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31.  LPLS’ eLibrary at LorainPublicLibrary.org is always open.  From eBooks to audiobooks, music to magazines, visit us online for a great selection of eMedia.  Happy Holidays!

TECH HELP: Santa could leave a new gadget under your Christmas tree.  If he does, turn to the Lorain Public Library System to learn how to use it.  The Main Library has a Tech Help class scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 28 from 3 to 5 p.m.  Bring your new technological toy to the library with any questions you may have.  Preregistration is required and is available online at LorainPublicLibrary.org or by calling the Main Library at 440-244-1192 or 1-800-322-READ, ext. 450. 

NOON YEAR’S EVE: Families are invited to celebrate the new year early with their kids at Lorain Public Library System’s Main Library.  Join in the fun on Tuesday, Dec. 31 starting at 11:30 a.m.  Ring in 2014 with music, games and more.  What New Year’s party would be complete without a ball drop?  Count down to noon at the library.  Preregistration is required and is available online at LorainPublicLibrary.org or by calling the Main Library at 440-244-1192 or 1-800-322-READ, ext. 449. 

WHAT’S HOT: If it’s hot, it’s at the Lorain Public Library System (LPLS).  Reserve a copy of “The First Phone Call from Heaven” by Mitch Albom at LPLS.  This novel is about a town that receives worldwide attention when its residents start receiving phone calls from the afterlife, and it tops this month’s Publishers Weekly fiction best-seller list.  A cookbook tops the nonfiction list – “The Pioneer Woman Cooks: A Year of Holidays” by Ree Drummond.  This book includes 135 step-by-step recipes for simple, scrumptious celebrations.  This book is sizzlin’ – place a hold to get your hands on this one.  Call any LPLS library, visit LorainPublicLibrary.org or download the CLEVNET app to request material.
