What’s happening at the Lorain Public Library at its main branch?

 

WORD FOR BEGINNERS: Learn to create professional-looking documents with ease at Lorain Public Library System’s Main Library.  Come to Word for Beginners on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at 3 p.m.  Participants will learn the basics of typing and saving documents using the 2007 edition of Microsoft Word.  Learn ways to format and print documents, and copy and paste techniques.  Participants need to be comfortable using a mouse to attend this class.  Preregistration is required and is available online at LorainPublicLibrary.org or by calling the Main Library at 440-244-1192 or 1-800-322-READ, ext. 450.  The Main Library is located at 351 W. Sixth St., Lorain.

 

WIN A KINDLE: Time is running out.  Like the Lorain Public Library System on Facebook for your chance to win a Kindle Paperwhite.  Enter the contest now through Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013.  To enter, find the library on Facebook by visiting LorainPublicLibrary.org and clicking on the Facebook icon.  You must be 13 years of age or older at time of entry to be eligible for this contest.  The winner must pick up the prize at one of the six Lorain Public Library System libraries.  Official Contest Rules are on the library’s website. 

 

What’s happening at the Lorain Public Library at its South Branch?

 

EXCEL FOR BEGINNERS: Learn Excel basics at Lorain Public Library System’s South Lorain Branch.  Excel for Beginners is Friday, Dec. 13 at 3:30 p.m.  Participants will learn how to input data into a spreadsheet workbook using Microsoft Office Excel 2007.  The class will also learn how to compose simple spreadsheet formulas, as well as how to go about choosing layout and print format options.  A limited amount of hands-on practice time will be available.  You must be comfortable using a mouse if you would like to attend this class.  Preregistration is required and is available online at LorainPublicLibrary.org or by calling the South Lorain Branch at 440-277-5672.  The South Lorain Branch is located at 2121 Homewood Drive, Lorain.

 

VISIT WITH SANTA: Mark your calendars – Santa will be at Lorain Public Library System’s South Lorain Branch on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 2 to 4 p.m.  Families and children of all ages, bring your camera for pictures with the big guy and his helpers.  Don’t miss it!  For more information, call the South Lorain Branch at 440-277-5672. 

 

CHRISTMAS CARTOON NIGHT: Enjoy an evening of classic Christmas cartoons at Lorain Public Library System’s South Lorain Branch.  Join in the merriment of the season on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 6 p.m.  Families and children of all ages are invited.  Preregistration is required and is available online at LorainPublicLibrary.org or by calling the South Lorain Branch at 440-277-5672. 

 

BOOK CLUB: Will the Lamberts be able to get the entire family together for one last Christmas at home?  Read “The Corrections” by Jonathan Franzen with Lorain Public Library System’s South Lorain Branch.  Their Change of Pace Book Club will discuss this book on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m.  Call the South Lorain Branch at 440-277-5672 to reserve a copy of this book.  New members welcome.
