NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK

LORAIN COUNTY: National Library Week is Sunday, April 14 through Saturday, April 20, 2013. Celebrate the place that can enrich, shape and transform your community – the library.
 

National Library Week is a time to celebrate the contributions of libraries, library staff and to promote library use. Communities matter at your Lorain Public Library System (LPLS). Visit any LPLS location or the Bookmobile to celebrate.

Make a Book Wreath
Main Library, 351 W. Sixth Street, Lorain
Sunday, April 14 at 2 p.m.

The Adult Services Department presents a free Recycle a Book Program as we celebrate National Library Week 2013. Do you have a glue gun, tape dispenser and stapler at home? If so, you have the tools you’ll need to construct a book wreath using pages cut from an old book. Come to this free program to see a demonstration of how to make your own book wreath. You will receive a free supply of precut pages from an old book that you can take home to craft into your own special wall décor. Monday, April 15 through Saturday, April 20 during regular library hours;

Balloon Bender Dave
Avon Branch Library, 37485 Harvest Drive, Avon; Tuesday, April 16 at 6:30 p.m. Balloon Bender Dave will dazzle and delight the entire family at this celebration of National Library Week. Watch as unique sculptures are created right before your eyes. For more information, call the Avon Branch Library at 440-934-4743.

National Bookmobile Day

Wednesday, April 17

Celebrate National Bookmobile Day on the Lorain Public Library System’s Bookmobile. All Bookmobile visitors may enter to win a prize. Treats and other surprises will also be available. Log on to LorainPublicLibrary.org for the complete Bookmobile schedule.

Jungle Bob’s Reptile Show

Wednesday, April 17 at 6:30 p.m.
Celebrate National Library Week with Jungle Bob's Reptile Show. Meet and learn about reptiles in this educational, entertaining program for families with children of all ages. Preregistration is required by calling the Main Library at 440-244-1192 or 1-800-322-READ, ext. 449.

Oberlin Guitar Duo
Domonkas Branch Library, 4125 East Lake Road, Sheffield Lake
Wednesday, April 17 at 7 p.m.
Celebrate National Library Week as we welcome back the Oberlin Guitar Duo. This performance will highlight the music of South and Central America.

Button Craft @ Our Library
Columbia Branch Library, 13824 W. River Road North, Columbia Station
Friday, April 19 at 3 p.m.
Fifth graders and up can create a button key chain or bracelet as we celebrate National Library Week. All materials will be provided. This program is cosponsored by The Friends of the Columbia Library, Inc. Preregistration is required by calling the Columbia Branch Library at 440-236-8751.

Family Fun @ Our Library

Saturday, April 20 at 11 a.m.
Families with preschoolers through 3rd graders, come for fun family activities and a snack as we celebrate National Library Week. This program is cosponsored by The Friends of the Columbia Library, Inc. Preregistration is required by calling the Columbia Branch Library at 440-236-8751.

Community Read-A-Thon
Avon Branch Library, 37485 Harvest Drive, Avon;
Saturday, April 20 at noon;
Come to the Library and listen to family members, teachers, principals and other community leaders read their favorite children's books in our children's area.
