Conference Workshop features groundbreaking work of author Gary
Glazner’s Alzheimer’s Poetry Project
The Alzheimer’s Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter, and
the Toledo Museum of Art are hosting Poetry and Art,
a conference featuring the groundbreaking work of poet and
author Gary Glazner and his Alzheimer’s Poetry Project
(APP). The workshop will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013,
from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Toledo Museum of Art, 2445
Monroe Street, Toledo, OH.
Poetry and Art
will focus on using visual art as an inspiration for the
performance and creation of poetry for persons in all stages of
Alzheimer’s disease, including the late stage. A performance
using the Museum’s own art will also take place for people who
have dementia and their care partners. A closed, private
training session is also being held for TMA docents and staff.
Gary Glazner is the founder and Executive Director of the
Alzheimer’s Poetry Project. The APP has been featured on NBC’s
Today show, NPR’s Weekend Edition, Voice of America and the New
Zealand National Radio. These broadcasts and news stories have
reached over 20 million people and have helped keep the issue of
quality, innovative care for people living with Alzheimer’s
disease in the public’s mind.
The workshop is for health care professionals, individuals with
Early Stage Memory Loss, family and friends and other
interested persons. The program is approved for 1 and ˝ clock
