uses its influence to make Lorain County a better place to live
by dedicating their combined energies to target minorities and
youth in underserved communities to help them overcome
challenges.
“Together they have coordinated the annual Leadership
Conferences for the Coalition for Hispanic Issues and Progress
(CHIP) for 17 years. It brings together more than 56 social
service, non-profit, state and local government agencies, civic
and ethnic clubs, local schools and foundations.
“Dina’s accolades are impressive: In 2009 she was selected as
Woman of the Year by the First Community Interfaith Institute of
Ohio and received the “Nuestra Familia” award from the
Ohio Commission on Hispanic/Latino Affairs for her work with the
Latino community. In 2006, she was honored with an award by
Lorain UMADAOP for being an “Extraordinary Individual.”
“Michael has more than 20 years of experience in developing and
implementing educational youth programs, particularly aimed at
“at risk” youth. A highlight of his career includes piloting a
Diabetes Prevention Program for Latino and
African-American males, which is now a national model funded by
Pfizer and the National Urban League. His
innovative ideas to reach today’s youth are inspiring.”
