Children enjoyed making sailboats for crafts with the help of
Home Depot volunteers and face painting with the help of
Lorain County Children Services’ volunteers.
El Centro's Executive Director Victor Leandry said they
are planning to host the grand opening of their new home in
November but the exact date will be announced at El Centro’s
annual gala, on the first weekend of November 2011.
El Centro plans to move from its current 1888 E. 31st
Street location, to its new headquarters on Pearl Avenue, after
the completion of a $1.2 million renovation to the former bank.
The agency has outgrown its current site; its new building will
be three times larger with a community room, a bigger parking
lot and will be handicap-accessible.
Leandry said organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters
have already asked to rent the community room.
The community fair was planned originally for Sept. 30, but it
was postponed due to rain.
