Fairview Park Branch  hosts College Goal Sunday

Parma, OH, January 27, 2010: Cuyahoga County Public Library and Cleveland Scholarship Programs are offering financial aid planning assistance on College Goal Sunday, February 14, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Students and parents can meet with college advising and financial aid professionals free of charge at the Library’s Fairview Park Branch – located at 21255 Lorain Road – and get assistance in filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is required to receive federal financial aid including the Federal Pell Grant, student loans and need-based state grants.
 

Students are encouraged to register online prior to the event, and will be required to provide specific documents, including their parents’ 2009 W-2 forms and tax returns. For registration and a full list of required documents, visit www.ohiocollegegoalsunday.org

During this free event, students and their parents can also get information on CollegeAdvantage, which is Ohio’s 529 college savings plan. CollegeAdvantage has many benefits that make saving for college easy and affordable. Earnings are tax-free and the funds can be used at any college in the country and for tuition, room and board, and books. Financial aid professionals will be on-hand to provide information on how colleges and universities use the FAFSA and what else students and parents may need to do to obtain financial aid.
