BGSU Dance Repertory
Ensemble to perform in ‘Tread Lively!’
Bowling Green
State University’s
Dance Repertory Ensemble will be joined by guest performers from
the Open Window
Dance Company and the Limitless
Dance Company of Toledo School for the
Arts (TSA) in a concert at BGSU
on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 29 and 30, 2010).
Performances of “Tread Lively!” will be at 8 p.m. both
evenings and at 2 p.m. Saturday in Kobacker Hall in the Moore
Musical Arts Center. The concert will present works by BGSU
dance faculty Colleen Murphy, Tammy Metz Starr and
Deborah Tell. A mix of modern dance, jazz and rhythm tap,
the program will also feature a duet choreographed by BGSU
senior Alexandra Stilianos of Bowling Green.
“Falling In,” choreographed by Starr, features an original score
by contemporary music composer
Dr. Thomas Rosenkranz, a BGSU assistant professor of
piano. Rosenkranz took as his inspiration
Yoko Ono’s illuminated
Imagine Peace Tower in Iceland.
Works by Murphy include “XR2,” an upbeat dance piece, and two
rhythm tap pieces, “Faith” and “I Wish,” both featuring large
casts of high-energy tappers. “When Once We Danced,”
choreographed by Tell, was inspired by her combined interests in
musical theater and modern dance.
TSA dancers will perform “The Dance” and “Edge of Anger,”
choreographed by Toledo faculty member Allison Remy.
The Open Window Dance Company,
comprised of BGSU Dance Program alumni, will present “Under the
Window Sill” and “Loose Change,”
choreographed by Starr, also the company’s artistic director.
Tickets will be available one hour prior to each performance in
the Kobacker Hall lobby. General seating tickets are $10 for
adults and $5 for students and children 18 and under. For
further information, call 419-372-6905.
