The film was the platform from which Feliciano, Jr. led a
discussion regarding the challenges faced by all Latinos,
including identity, education, political power, and economic
development. “La falta de respecto” was a key theme.
The sponsor of the event, including a reception, was the Nielson
Corporation, which was represented by María Boss, Vice President
of Hispanic Initiatives for GAP Communications.
José C. Feliciano, Sr., Chairman and founder of the Hispanic
Roundtable, discussed the Convención process and how it is a
unique community organizing event in the United States, which
provides an opportunity for the Latino community to identify,
empower, and inspire the Latino community to address their
fundamental issues.
The president of The Hispanic Roundtable Community Programs,
which actually sponsors the Convención, is Andrés González,
who was instrumental in organizing the evening.
The event was attended by approximately 80 participants—most
were young Latinos.
