Perrysburg hosts
half-marathon start
The Glass City Marathon adds a new run to the fitness
packed weekend this year and Perrysburg is the site of the
starting line—on Sunday, April 26th, 2009, runners
gather along Front Street between Louisiana and Riverside Park
for the inaugural start.
Front Street and the downtown area are both historic and
scenic. “What better place to start a half marathon than
Perrysburg” says this year’s race director, Perrysburg’s Clint
McCormick; “we have received a lot of community support and are
looking forward to a great day in Perrysburg.” |

The run will have a simultaneous start time of 8:00 a.m. with
the marathoners and team relays starting in downtown Toledo. A
5k will begin at 8:15am in downtown Toledo and a kid’s marathon
will be held the day before during the fitness expo.
In its 33rd year, the Glass City Marathon
looks to increase the participation field by adding a
half-marathon. “It has become common in the marathon industry
to add a half-marathon to boost attendance. There are a lot of
people who like to run this distance, and many who like to
walk. We are expecting about 2,000 runners this year with 1,000
runners in this event alone,” according to McCormick.
Registration is still open and can be done online until
4/15/09. An expanded expo and a post-race party have also been
added to the event weekend. For more information and to
