The Lorain County Latino Celebration is September 20 and 21,
2008. This event has been created as a part of National Hispanic
Heritage Month which begins September 15 and ends on October
15.
The Lorain County Latino Celebration begins Saturday September
20, from 7 pm – 9 pm, at the Lorain Palace Theater for a movie
called “Yo Soy Boricua Pa que Lo Sepa,” which translates
to “I am proud to be Puerto Rican, so that you know it”

It’s a film narrated by actor Jimmy Smith that explains the
Puerto Rican history, experience, and culture (both on the
island and main land). This movie will enlighten both Puerto
Ricans and non Puerto Ricans about the issues, traditions and
the culture that influenced the Puerto Rican community of
Yesterday and Today. The director and producer is Rosie Pérez.
On Sunday September 21, 2008 from 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm in
cooperation with the Lorain County Metroparks, at Lakeview Park
in the City of Lorain, we will have music, food, dancing,
displays, and an overall celebration. Groups that will be in
attendance are Alma de Mexico, a Mexican dance group, Raices
Latinas, a Puerto Rican dance group, and other dance groups from
the Cleveland, Ohio area. Music will be performed by Salsa
sensation Sammy DeLeón and Charlie Sánchez’s Latin Jazz Group
“UPFRONT/ADELANTE,” which is a modern and contemporary band with
a Spanish flare. Last but not least Justo with 107.3 FM
The Wave, who will perform exciting and music to get your off
your feet!
