Mexican Mutual Society
hosts annual Cinco de Mayo festivities
Lorain, Ohio:
The Mexican Mutual Society celebrated Cinco de Mayo on Saturday,
May 3,
2008.
The day started with the 11th Annual Cinco de Mayo
Parade, which featured Mariachi Joya, and ended at Sacred Heart
Chapel Hall.
At the hall,
the celebration continued with a 7:00 pm Little Queen Coronation,
where the 2007 Queen, Isabel Sánchez, crowned the 2008 Queen,
Alondra Rosario Flores. A cultural dance program, featuring Alma
de México, followed the coronation, with an evening dance with
music provided by DJ “Pepe.”
The new 2008
Cinco De Mayo Little Queen is Alondra Rosario Flores.
Alondra, 5 years old, is the daughter of David Flores and Judith
Flores, and the granddaughter of Pete and Guadalupe Flores.
Alondra attends Lowell Elementary preschool and dances with the
Sacred Heart Jr. Liturgy Dance Group. She also enjoys roller
skating.

Coming in a
very close second place for the title of 2008 Cinco De Mayo
Princess was Natalia Elena Moreno. Natalia attends Palm
Elementary School, enjoys singing and dancing to Mexican music and
is 8 years old. Natalia is following in the footsteps of her
cousins, aunt, mother and grandmother, who have also competed in
past pageants. Natalia is the daughter of Hugo Magdalena Moreno
and the granddaughter of Betty Morales and Alberto Cortez.
The 2008 Cinco
de Mayo Duchess I is Angelissa Pardo. Angelissa is 9 years
old and is the daughter of Selina Espitia and Renier Rodríguez and
the granddaughter of Robert and María Espitia. Angelissa attends
Palm Elementary School, where she is in the third grade and loves
her Bratz dolls and loves to color.
The 2008 Cinco
de Mayo Duchess II is Oriana Figueroa. Oriana is a fourth
grader at
Harris
Elementary School and is a Girl Scout. She is 9 years old and
enjoys sports, music and movies. Oriana is the daughter of Nicole
Peña and Oscar Figueroa, the granddaughter of Oscar Figueroa and
Nilda Fernández and Monica and Michael Peña. Congratulations and
thanks to all the girls and their parents for all their hard work.
