United Way
recognizes Adelante, others
TOLEDO:
More than 350 people attended United Way of Greater Toledo’s
awards reception, Images of Caring, on April 15, 2008, at
The Pinnacle in
Maumee.
The evening provided the organization with an opportunity to
recognize and thank its volunteers, partners, and donors.
United Way presented the 2008 Spirit of Caring Outstanding Company
Award and the 2008 Spirit of Caring Community Volunteer Award to
Enterprise Rent-A-Car and former
board
Chair
Alison Falls , respectively, for their leadership, achievement,
and commitment to our community.
Community Impact Awards
were presented to several program partners for their efforts to
change lives.
Recipients included: Leamos Juntos, a program of Toledo’s
Adelante, Inc.; Child Abuse Prevention Center, a program of
Family and Child Abuse Prevention Center;
Toledo GROWs, a program of
Toledo
Botanical Gardens; the YMCA Fun Bus; BG Teen Central; and
Mental Health and Recovery Board of Erie and Ottawa Counties.
Four companies had combined corporate and employee giving of
$500,000 or more and were awarded with United Way ’s Pinnacle
Award. Companies receiving Pinnacle Awards: The
Andersons, Inc., The Andersons
Foundation, and The Andersons Fund Supporting Organization; the
Chrysler Foundation, Toledo North
Assembly Plant, and UAW Local 12 along with
Toledo Machining Plant and UAW
Local 1435; O-I and O-I Retirees, and
Owens Corning and Owens Corning
Foundation.
Another 22 companies contributed a combined corporate and employee
gift of $100,000 to $499,999 and were presented with United Way’s
Pillar Award. Companies receiving Pillar Awards included:
Bowling Green State University, the University of Toledo, the City
of Toledo, Mercy Health Partners, and ProMedica Health System.
The evening concluded with the introduction of Steve Krull,
general counsel and senior vice president of
Owens Corning, who will serve as
the 2008 United Way Campaign Chair. |
