Interactive Energy Fair at The University of Toledo targets K-12
students
Life-size
robots, Lego robots, hydrogen and solar cars, as well as many
activities with the theme How to Save Energy, will be a
part of the Energy Fair at The University of Toledo on
Saturday,
April 19, 2008.
The event will
take place in Nitschke Auditorium and Halls at
UT, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is
meant for K-12 students from the Toledo area, but everybody is
welcome to attend.
There will be
hands-on energy activities for students, such as making windmill
blades to test how much electricity they can generate. Attendees
will also be able to explore energy saving items featured in
student displays and participate in hourly prize drawings.
There will be
the following competitions during the Energy Fair:
_Windmill Blade Design – contestants will test their designs to
see how much electricity they can generate.
11 a.m.,
noon and 1p.m.
_Art Contest – contestants will represent their energy art
projects.
_Essay
Contest – essays that have been written by contestants
previous to the fair will be awarded during the event.
The event is
sponsored by Dana and Sylvania Schools Robotics Outreach – Youth
Energy Savers, Lucas County Commissioners and The
University of Toledo.
