How The Grinch
Stole Christmas!
was first written in 1957 by Dr. Seuss and published by Random
House in
New York.
Its 50-year anniversary is celebrated at Main Library,
325 Michigan
St., with an enlarged display of The Grinch and Who-ville
characters in the Wintergarden’s large display window. A small
encased display at the reference desk of Children’s Library at
Main also contains The Grinch and Who-ville characters.
Also at the desk, librarians are giving away free 50th
anniversary Grinch stickers and bookmarks (by Demco).
The
Wintergarden window and Children’s Library reference desk display
items will only be available for viewing through the end of the
year. Only nine copies of the 50th-Anniversary
Retrospective copies of How The Grinch Stole Christmas! are
available for patrons to check out with their library card. The
book contains 32 pages of commentary and archival images.
