The Electronic Technologist 2 will
be responsible for developing new Photovoltaic design in
collaboration with one of the PVIC partners, Advanced
Distributed Generation (ADG). The position will notably design
and build new hardware for PV installation, review existing PV
drawings or design new ones with CAD software. This position
will also be in charge of roof top PV installation, of grid-tied
systems integration, of electrical wiring and of the maintenance
and operation of electrical and mechanical systems. The
Electronic Technologist 2 will assist in the selection and
purchasing of PV systems components and contract implementation,
and will provide technical support and training to a variety of
people (staff, students, public).
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
Technology or equivalent is required. The successful candidate
must obtain a GLREA PV Apprentice certification within the
probationary period. Desired qualifications include knowledge of
NEC code; ability to specify and install electrical power and
control systems; ability to write reports and use CAD software;
good management skills; work experience wiring of controls (AC
and DC); ability to work on roofs, use appropriate tools;
construction experience; previous experience in PV installation
and high voltage utility; capacity to become licensed as an
electrical contractor or an engineer; NABCEP certified; previous
experience in technical support and training; excellent
communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
